What were your opinions on Breaking Dawn? Your reactions?
Author: admin Category: mad men spoilers
You were so right on every level that I’m pretty speechless. Honestly, the plot was just completely thrown away.
1) The wedding is something that Bella doesn’t want to do and so she should be making a huge deal about it and Alice should be going crazy and overboard with stuff for it but nope it just comes right on out in a couple of pages at the beginning.
2) Wait…what bachelor party? bachelorette party? Denali who??? where’s the whole jealous stare off with Tanya and Bella?
3) Immortal children….wow that’s convenient…wonder why it wasn’t mentioned earlier in the series…
4) makeout session at the wedding in front of everyone…oh yeah bella is sooo self conscious
5) another waste of pages with the whole edward actually eating thing…i mean come on please just save him from the pain of it already
6) another classic case of Bella’s stupidity at times
7) Isle Esme…such a creative name and all psh…i mean i expected Edward to go all out and take bella everywhere and let her do tons of once in a lifetime human things before changing her and all…oh and what’s with Bella’s sudden craving for sex????
yep the wonderful character of Bella was completely lost…it was semi-there during the honeymoon scene but that was it…haha “Jacob drawer” that’s pretty bad Steph
9) the beach scene was pretty much the only one that I really enjoyed and reminded me that bd was part of a series, hence that it was the only scene with good bella characterization
10) I liked the pillow stuff…it was good humor to the story
11) gotta love eggs right?
12) Bella seducing a vampire…haha wow i really cant picture that…and why on earth would she think about staying human? I mean i was like waiting for the gotcha part through that entire chapter.
13) very convenient that the cleaning crew (who has a cleaning crew on their own island?) is a bunch of superstitious ppl
14) ok with the pregnancy thing i was like wha??? Did this get switched with one of the twilight fanfiction cliches on the internet? nope
15) ya heck if i was the superstitious cleaning lady i’d be like “Ahhh vampire!!! Run away!!!” and not even speak to him let alone tell him what he wants to know
16) yes I hated Jacob with a huge passion before bd…now he’s like the only real character for me
17) I agree
18) Is Edward a flipping idiot???? How about adoption instead of being like “okay Bella you have sex with me tonight and Jacob tomorrow night and vice versa until you get pregnant with the werewolf’s (cough i mean shapeshifter’s) baby”
19) I can’t believe observant Bella would be so blind to Rosalie’s desires like that…ugh
20) I got bd at the airport and im a pretty fast reader and my plane was delayed so i got to his pov and once i read the titles, i started cracking up laughing which caused the ppl next to me to stare at me like i was a complete idiot haha i liked them
21) I agree
22) I love Leah and I actually wished that Jake would end up with her instead of Renesesmee(*cringe* the name ew)
23) Yep the vampire IQ keeps on depleting…I wonder if a mentally retarded person that was changed into a vampire would be like normal or still mentally retarded…hmmm
24) mutant spawn hahahaha i like that…yep just ANOTHER convenient story
25) ya Bella and blood aren’t supposed to mix so what’s up with that??? and she’s still human!
26) I suffered too.
27) Again, I love Leah haha. plus even though im blond, i liked the jokes haha… You. Got. Food. In. My. Hair.
28) Rosalie=territorial
29) I don’t do blood and now I’m terrified of birth scenes…thanks Stephenie! now i know to just adopt and faint at the sight of blood
30) we all bend the rules for bella cuz she’s special…wtf?!?!
31) RENESMEE?! Steph lost her creativity by a long shot…even cheesy Carlie would have been better cuz its an actual name!!!
32) how cliche is that? jacob still gets a part of bella with re-whatsherface…ewww stephenie turned into a pedophile
33) ya so I was expecting more of like edward being against the whole transformation and a lot of angst leading up to her changing but nope…it just comes out of nowhere…”oh no she’s dieing cuz of her mutant spawn! here’s some venom Bella! BAM!!!! vampire Bella
34) Hello??? what happened to crazed newborn???
35) yep may as well have just gotten a vampire, named her Bella, and put her in the book
36) “my little nudger” ha! that sounds sooo wrong
37) i know…where did all that protectiveness come from? and what’s with the maternal side of her?
38) Totally fanfic.
39) I know! she totally is trying to make everyone happy with the whole Charlie thing and I actually said wtf out loud when I read it…WTF!?!?!?!
40) *cringe*
41) I agree
42) and she actually wears the jumbo diamond thing!!!
43) yep, totally out of character
44) there isn’t any characterization at all
45) and I know vampires are supposed to be smart but with everyone’s IQs depleting, doesn’t Alice’s plan seem a little too brilliant and coincidental???
46) It’s like bd isn’t even a part of the series bc everything that mattered before doesn’t in bd…hello? treaty=law
47) another waste of pages
48) I wish Steph would have actually gone more in-depth with Alec bc he is actually one of my fav characters and he’s like one of the most important, if not the most important, part of the volturi and so I think he should have at least gotten a couple of lines…love his power though
49) BAM! super bella comes to the rescue!
50) yeah, WHATEVER HAPPENED TO EDWARD BEING THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO BELLA?!?!?!?!?!?
51) idk that seemed like it was just a friendship thing but again, Stephenie is just trying to please everyone
52) i loved them and thought that there could have been more pages about them
53) more fluff and waste of pages
54) Love the Volturi’s entrance…yay!!!
55) another coincidence
56) either she got some bad press about them not being real werewolves or stephenie meyer has gone insane
57) PREMENSTRUAL VAMPIRES!!!!!
58) such a motivational speech…too bad its pointless cuz nothing happens
59) Annoying. Gooshey. Repetitive. Took the words right out of my mouth
60) her character just went away…like the rest of the Cullens
61) Exactly. Too perfect. Unrealistic
*I think what really bothers me is that the whole love story theme is gone. Edward and Bella’s characters are completely wrong and Bella is all like “okay I have Edward, now what? Oh here comes my mutant spawn yay!!!”
*There’s also no action or suspense like the other books had. I remember one reviewer had said that breaking dawn was just like a drawn out epilogue and i have to completely agree with that.
*There’s too much fluff and it’s not even the good kind between Edward and Bella.
*Jacob Black went insane. Imprinting on a half-vampire baby. Wow creepy!!!
*I also wish that everything would have been in Bella’s pov like the other books. That just would have given it a better connection to the rest of the series
*wish there was more about the Volturi too. Like the rest of the laws and their powers and such instead of having them march out from a forest, act like they have pms, be too stupid to hear renesmee’s heartbeat, and go back to volterra like cowards
*Shouldve been a better plot is all I can really say. Still in love with the first three books, but I probably won’t be rereading this one.

I thought it was amazing. Mind you, I did skim through large chunks in order to get to the good parts, but I’ll go back and reread it now.
It was suprising and unpredictable that Bella had a baby- who would have thought?
Also, I didn’t like the part that was in Jacob’s point of view. Who. Cares. I think that vampires are enough for one series without adding werewolves too.
The makeout sessions and sexcapades- entertaining. Gooshey? Obviouslly you don’t have a boyfriend/girlfriend/spouse. hmmm.
I agreed with most of your review though!

haha holy crap
im extremely opinionated
but this is alot more than i would write hahaha
i agree with most of it
first-
bella was EXTREMELY out of character
not doubt about it
jacob imprinting on nessie???? thats sick and utterly disgusting
and he all the sudden forgets about bella
in all three books he tries and tries to get bella to love him
and leave edward, and then he doesnt care? explain please
and then it felt extremely weird
when bella turns into the vampire
and shes completely okay?
like how can you live for nineteen years and suddenly turn
into a vampire with no problem?
stephenie meyer didnt explain anything
she didnt explain how she got used to not eating, or not sleeping or not breathing?? it doesnt make sense
i skipped over all that stupid explaining over all those characters in the end. it was completely unnecessary and boring
i hated the way bella acted after becoming vampire. she was completely not herself! i was so disappointed and it sucked alot
the story could have been soo much better too
because in the last books bella and edward go through danger
and thrilling situations
and in this one she just gets pregnant?
could the story get any more boring?
i couldnt love nessie, because she was killing bella and hurting edward. it was all so wrong
OH YEAH and bella is nineteen!!!
how can she have a baby and become a vampire without getting overwhelmed that shes only nineteen?
ridiculous
i just wished she would pop out and be like AHH KIDDING! heres the real breaking dawn!
i actually liked the ending. it reminded me of the happy times in past books.

regarding to point 14…
most twilight fans know that Stephanie Meyer said that female vampires couldn’t get pregnant because when they transform, their bodies are basically frozen in time- which is obviously not the case for the male vampires. however, we all know that humans CAN. when renesmee was conceived, bella was still human.
i agree on how weird and crazy the plot goes on from there, and how the birth was totally gruesome, AND how the volturi were surprisingly stupid at the end.

I don’t hate it. Here’s what I think.
Bella’s pregnancy was certainly a twist, but in a way it made sense- Bella was a human and Edward was a vampire. On the sperm point, well, vampires aren’t supposed to exist. So who’se to say what the male’s sperm could do? You know? I was kind of disappointed that it happened, but it wasn’t terrible.
The writing style was different, but it wasn’t bad. I thought it was actually better than her other books. But maybe it was Bella. Like you said, she was so different than Twilight, New Moon, and even the more recent Eclipse. I couldn’t help but think What? Are you serious? I don’t know what that was all about. I mean, I guess it wasn’t terrible for her personality to change a bit after she became a vampire, but even before she did, she was too different.
I can’t decide yet whether I liked it or not. I’ve JUST finished the book (as in ten minutes ago). I liked how we saw Jacob’s POV, and I agree with Graceful Little Alice. The blonde jokes were funny. But I wasn’t completely satisfied with his character. The blonde jokes were one of the few things that made Jacob the real Jacob we knew so well in New Moon and Eclipse. His obsession to protect Bella during her pregnancy was another. But everything afterwards, after Renesmee was born, Jacob’s character was lost. At least it seemed like it to me. I don’t agree with his imprinting on Renesmee. NOT EVERYBODY can have a happy ending. I don’t know what Stephenie Meyer was thinking, there. Though I question Renesmee’s *being* in the first place, I thought that her talent was cool. I liked it. I also liked Bella’s. I loved the fact that, in the end, Edward could finally know what she was thinking.
So I’m still undecided on whether I liked the book or not. The plot wasn’t terrible, at least. The Volturi part may have been drawn out longer than necessary, as I thought there was too much back-and-forth stuff going on, but I was happy when Alice came back to end it, ha. I think the thing that bothered me the most was Bella’s character change. And Jacob’s. EDWARD on the other hand FINALLY became REALISTIC. The things Meyer did to him in the first two books ruined his character, trying to make him appealing by making him unpredictable and a “bad boy,” which Edward clearly is not. So I’m happy with Edward.
I also payed careful attention to Edward and Bella’s relationship. I saw Bella being able to make more choices of her own, less of the “abusive” side of him. So I’m satisfied, there. If only Bella’s non-doormat-ness could have appeared in the other books as well as this one. XD
Well, there. There’s my opinion. I think I’d give the final book a tentative 7/10. But I don’t think any more than that.
Basically, there needed to be less happy endings, since that is absolutely *not* realistic, and Bella and Jacob (well, in the second half for Jacob) needed to be more in character. AND Jacob needed to NOT imprint on Nessie. While it’s adorable that he wanted to protect her, he could have done it from a more “uncle” kind of position. Stephenie didn’t need to do that.
All around, it looks like Breaking Dawn wasn’t very well recieved…
Sorry for giving you a whole review, heh, I copied and pasted this from another question I answered. But I agree with points 20, 22, 23, and 27.

I think the fact is that most–or at least many–of Stephenie Meyer’s fans are teenagers, who are not necessarily the most family-oriented group of people. They don’t understand a mother’s point of view, or the way a baby can have a gripping hold on people.
It’s difficult for this group to read a book from a series that’s been about rebellion (from the normal vampires-kill-humans-but-Edward-doesn’t-kill-Bella theme of the rest of the series), danger, tentative love, and strong angst emotion, but suddenly changes to familial love, love of child, and total acceptance with very little or no real reason. Teenagers instinctively grab at a chance to fume at their parents, and the child in this book gave such a good chance for that: she destroyed the romance, reason the Team Edwards were reading in the first place. And then she destroyed (and by she, I’m still talking about Renesmee…and yes I agree, the name sucks. It’s a freaking combination of two not even very forefront characters, and plus it sounds really bad. Once again, this is probably the non-familial side of me ranting :P) the reason for Team Jacobs to read it.
I personally really, really, REALLY wanted to love the book, but the first reaction I had to it was that its genre changed too much for the same crowd to love it in the same way. It’s not a bad book, but it is different from the previous ones, which wasn’t what most people were expecting.
Also, I understand why the sex scene was skipped over, but…she didn’t have to get into the graphic part of it to explain the emotional part of it–the part we all love from other three books. I realize it was left up to imagination, but for me, the reason I wanted to read the book was to not have to imagine it. Duhhhhh. -__-;

Wow, I can really say you did point out many things that I have not noticed.
(SPOILERS AHEAD DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE NOT FINISHED) Here is my opinion on the book:
1) I was disappointed with how fast the wedding went by. I mean, I was like, “What the hell? Only like 20 pages into it and they already tied the knot?! It’s so unreal!” Yes, it did seem fanfiction-ish that it pissed me off for a moment.
2) Esme Isle was sweet, and I loved how Steph described their time there, but what the heck is with the eggs? I know eggs are great and it’s probably Bella just craving it due to her pregnancy…but whatever happened to other human foods?
3) Feathers. Wow, I loved that.
But I’m surprised Edward literally didn’t break her with all those bruises on her. And wtf? Isn’t he supposed to be protecting her? Why did he let her seduce him and just hurt her again? AND EVER HEARD OF PROTECTION??? I mean, every couple who don’t want kids would use it. Why didn’t they think of that? Even if Edward supposedly is not supposed to “reproduce”.
4) I think the reason why Steph makes Bella so compassionate for this baby that’s killing her is because that’s how mothers are. For a moment it made me think of how mothers react to having a child inside them and I kind of understood why Bella acted like she did in the book. Now I was surprised when she found blood good, but I believe that was because of Renesmee.
5) While Renesmee is a unique, cute name. It really is a mouthful and “Nessie” is quite cuter.
6) I LOVE Jake in this book! The chapter titles really are so Jake and he was just amazing! It was great to get inside his head and see part of the story from his POV. It almost made me convert to Team Jacob, until of course Jacob started to his soulmate-searching. And while I was a little surprised his partner turns out to be Renesmee, I thought it was cute. What got me though was how the pack accepted it so easily. I mean, sure, he imprinted, but that baby is HALF-VAMPIRE? Doesn’t that technically mean it’s forbidden? No matter what, it’s still an enemy!
7) Bella’s transformation description was just how I would imagine it would be. But when she suddenly showed she was newborn with ease I got confused. I mean, it was fanfiction-ish, and I know Bella is “special” but she can’t be that special can she? She should at least struggle with being a vampire in some way. And what happened to her clumsiness? Total character flip when she’s a vampire. I mean, as a vampire, she’s even more graceful than the Cullens! And she’s better than them and they’ve been doing this for centuries while she was only a couple of months! How is the possible?
9) Where were the Cullens? Throughout the whole entire story I barely saw Emmett, Jasper, Alice, Esme (especially her), and Carlisle! It’s like the vanished from the entire plot entirely! They barely talked, barely got involved. I wanted more Emmett-Bella brother/sister moments, more Jasper-Bella brother/sister moments. And Alice! Gosh, I thought she’d be more involved.
10) A lot of things sometimes contradicted stuff from the earlier novels. Like how the treaty was like the law? But then all of sudden you can just bend it and forget it’s even there? I mean come on, the pack should be a little more strict! And where the hell are all the new wolves coming from??? They’re can’t be too many with the same genetics if there were only a little bit to start with!
11) I actually like Renesemee and find her adorable at times. But she can also be irritating. She practically kills her own mother and still Bella loves her. I was glad that Jacob hated her for that (and then imprinted with her). How can people just forget that she was the cause of Bella’s pain? And she’s so spoiled and acts like an innocent little angel! It’s irritating that this kid can do no evil! -.-
12) It was fun to see more vampires, but we barely even got to know them! The Denali clan was awesome, but there character development was all foggy, like they were still a mystery as they were in Eclipse. We hear about them, but we know nothing about them! And while other characters were great, they were not explored enough for us to get to know them on a personal level. And some of them didn’t even talk! They were only there for show!
13) Wow, we get to meet J. Jenks and while I personally like him, he’s barely explored as a character too. And then he turns out to be useless when Renesmee and Jacob don’t run! What was even the use? You don’t need to be Alice to see that they’ll win. And there’s another thing, some things in the book were so predictable that I was disappointed to see I was right. I like to be right, but I like it even more when I’m surprised with a twist.
14) Bella’s shield is awesome, but seeing how easily she handled it during the face-off with the Volturi was totally unrealistic. She had so much trouble earlier with it, why is she not struggling now? Why is she some almighty vampire that can’t be stopped? Come on Steph, she’s not that perfect!
15) I also love Nahuel, but we barely get to know him too.
And his story was so…easy. I can’t believe the Volturi just bought it! Just because Nahuel is like that, it means Renesmee will be the same? Why didn’t the Voltuir question the truth in his words? True, he was honest, but it just didn’t seem like the Volturi. It was like suspense action and then rush ending.
16) The happy ending is…ugh, so happy! I love the ending, but it just made me go “WTF? That’s it?” Not enough of the suspense and action we had the first 3 books.
It was just romance, fluff, a little suspense thrown in here and there, and that’s it.
But overall, I enjoyed the book and will reread it again. While I am kind of disappointed in some things, I think Meyer finished off the series quite nicely. And yes, although it is a little fanfiction-ish, I’m not mad at her for that. I think she just wanted to give the fans what they wanted. ^^ I appreciate her love for her fans.
Oh, I forgot this earlier, but I also did not like the whole “Irina-tattled-on-us” thing. I mean, she was so close to them, how could she not see that Renesmee was not an immortal child? If Bella could see her and hear her, then Irina could certainly hear Renesmee!

It took a while for it to sink in, and I’m not completely sure how I feel about the book, but overall, I liked it.
I agree that Bella seemed out of character when I read it. Obviously, she’s not going to act the same way she did in Twilight, when she didn’t even know Edward was a vampire, but something about her seemed strange to me. Ironically, when she was a vampire, I began to recognize Bella more and feel like maybe she was the person I’d gotten so used to. I think part of this might be that, once again, I was reading her reaction to danger. Bella was so perfectly happy for so long that she almost seemed like a different person. However, when I scanned through the book again, I started to feel like she was less out of character, even in the beginning.
About Renesmee: First, let me say that even though the name seemed weird at first, I think it’s actually really pretty. She was a little too perfect, but only in book three. After all, in both books two and three she was more of a liability than anything else; she was the almost the reason for so many people’s deaths. In my opinion, that sort of makes up for her perfect personality. I was surprised that she could even exist, but I don’t think it’s so bad that she does. After all, Bella WAS human, and it’s the girl that really needs to change during pregnancy, not the boy.
Jacob’s point of view was very cool, as was him separating from the pack. It may be a bit late for us to decide that he’s NOT really a werewolf after all, but I guess I knew that. The imprint was weird, and I’m wondering if it’s actually making everything harder, instead of easier. I’m really curious about how that will work out. I wish there’d been more on their relationship.
Charlie did not need to be there. It’s nice of Steph to try & give him a happy ending, but she went a little too far with him.
Personally, I don’t mind that there wasn’t a full-scale fight at the end. Garrett’s speech WAS cool, and I think that the book came as close to a fight as it could without a battle. I wouldn’t really mind if it had gone further, but I don’t see why it would have to. The talking was pretty dramatic on its own.
Those were just a few points I wanted to get out there. Mostly I think that this book is better if you take time to let it sink in. There were a few pieces that Stephenie could have done more with, and I wish that some of the characters had been developed more, especially the ones in relationships, but it wasn’t so bad. It was just a little too happy sometimes, but I’m satisfied with the way everything was wrapped up.

First of all, I already posted my loooong views about breaking dawn at my livejournal:
http://pink-flame-87.livejournal.com/
But in most ways I think you are really right. I love the series. I love Stephenie Meyer. I don't HATE the book. But it doesn't fit with the rest of the series. Now to your specific points…
1) You're right, I'm surprised they didn't have Alice kidnap Bella the night before the wedding. Didn't really bother me, but it would have been classic Alice.
2) You are so right about the Denali clan. When I heard that the plot had something to do with A Midsummer Night's Dream I thought it might be Tanya was in love with Edward, who was in love with Bella who was in love with Edward, but also a little of Jacob, who maybe could have imprinted on Tanya…that idea aside, I can't believe she had no part at all really.
3) I agree with your points here, and I also thought the wedding was really rushed.
5) Good points, especially the cake throw up…eww lol.
6) I thought it was so lame that Jake showed up in such a friendly manner. The end of Eclipse was so delightfully angsty, and you really believed he would choose a life alone as a wolf than see her married to someone who would "kill" her. At least he freaks out over her honeymoon plans.
7) It was cheesy, but I loved this part compared to a lot of the book so I'll take it.
9) I agree, the pre-honeymoon night scene was one of the times when Bella was most in character and I loved that.
10) I loved the morning after. Again, this is one of the few times in the book that both Edward and Bella seem fully like themselves.
11) Apparently she can only eat eggs. Oh well.
12) The crying and practically begging for sex was kind of demeaning and weird in my mind. I'm sure it's great…but have some pride Bella! I thought hte sudden wish to stay human was odd too. She knew what she was getting into why change her mind? And it irritates me because I actually WANTED her to stay human for at least awhile and they act like she well than….she doesn't. Go figure.
13) I found it kind of obnoxious that they had a cleaning crew at all. Bella can't stand to be given a gift that costs any money but she doesn't mind poor South American workers cleaning up after her? Seems like she would have protested that she was more than capable of looking after herself…if she was still Bella that is. And yes, it's clear they will have a purpose, but still…
14) I know. I was shocked. She did say that Vampires couldn't get anyone pregnant! She said ALL FLUIDS in a vampire's body were exchanged for venom. ALL FLUIDS. Apparently not. Anyway, I could have dealt with it. It could have even been cute. Except it wasn't because the loveable characters I would WANT to be able to have a baby are missing and replaced with characters who have their names but not their personalities.
15) I agree. You're completely right.
16) Ha! I liked Jacob a lot before Breaking Dawn, but I find it hilarious that everyone who hated him before is clinging to his chapters now because everyone else is so out of character. Thank goodness for the Werewolves…oppps…I mean shape shifters…which Edward and the rest of the Cullens knew about…but it never came up…right.
17) I still find the whole imprinting on children creepy. Even with the best intentions, looking at a 2 year old and knowing you will someday "be" with her is hard to embrace.
18) I actually think he would if he saw no other alternative. The thing is, there WERE other alternatives!! If Edward truly belived Bella would die, he wouldn't let ANYTHING, not Rosalie, not Emmett, not Esme, not Bella's wishes keep him from finding a way to save Bella's life. End of story.
19) I agree, Rosalie redeems herself in Eclipse and then Breaking Dawn makes us hate her again. And I hated how Edward could clearly see Rosalie's real motivations until he bonds with the unborn baby and then suddenly she's off the hook. Regardless of if the baby is evil or not, Rosalie was in it for herself. She may have not WANTED Bella to die but it was a price she was wiilling to pay.
20) Agreed!
21) Hadn't thought of that but I see your point.
22) Loved the wolves but the more I think about it the more I hate the way Leah's storyline goes…and then stops. Why is that the only female ( female human more or less) that has a full mind of her own and actually tries to go after her own happiness (rather than the happiness of the boys around her) is the only one who ends up ALONE!? I don't think Stephenie Meyer is anti-feminist on purpose but this really upset me. Leah and Jacob were building up, she defended him, and then just…poof…Leah has no purpose anymore. She's free to go off into the sunset, loveless, incapable of having children, free to watch Sam and Jacob with their imprinted girlfriends. That sucks.
23) I know. That was ridiculous. The baby is obviously biologically half vampire. What do vampires eat…come on guys…you can do it!
24) Ummm…yeah.
25) Ok, first of all I agree about Bella and the blood. Yes, she wanted it because the baby wanted it, but it should have been really hard for her. I feel like it should have been a real ordeal for her to drink it. And the reason they had the blood around was for Bella, not to drink, but in case they had to do an emergancy operation to take the baby out. Bella would have lost a lot of blood (which she does eventually) and Carlisle would have given her a transfusion just like in the hospital.
26) I didn't mind it except that it didn't LEAD ANYWHERE. No wolves battle. No Jacob/Leah love connection. If you start it take it somewhere.
27) I agree.
28) Yep.
29) It was creepy. And you know what I HATED? How Bella is lying there dead basically and Jacob just "drifts" away. Sure he thought he was going to kill the baby, but did he really not love Bella at all!? "He no longer felt any pull to this body…" WHAT!? That broke my heart. I thought he loved her before the creepy baby ever existed.
30) I thought that too. Maybe because Edward injected the venom directly into her heart?
31) I don't like it either, but oh well. Name's are the least of my worries. Although I actually like it better than "Nessie". I like Carlie the best. I thought they should have named it Elizabeth for Edward's mom.
32) I know, I know. I can't even go into it again, read my live journal post for the whole thing. This is the point I was so upset.
33) Bella was too perfect. Having any one of her powers would have been great, but all of them just seemed like too much. Mary Sue alert! Just like freaking annoying Ginny Weasley in Harry Potter.
34) Yep
35) Yep. And she could have still been her even as a vampire. They still feel insecurities, they still have to struggle to do the right thing just like she did as a human. She could have been strong and fast and beautiful but still unsure of herself and a little afraid of everything…but no.
36) I know! Just being told someone is perfect and loveable over and over again does not actually make the reader love them. The baby should have been BABY like. It could have been immortal and drank blood but grown at a normal rate and not been an adult inside a child. It would have given so many sweet Edward/Bella/Baby moments. Did Edward ever even once glow with pride and unexpected joy that against all odds he was a daddy? Did he even hold the thing!?
37) Yep. But at least it was kind of funny. Again, least of my worries.
38) Yep, but again I'll take any moment of Edward/Bella. There seems to be a shortage.
39) I know. In order to be so happy with Edward the whole point was that she would have to sacrifice so much else. It seems like she didn't earn it this way.
40) Didn't mind it as much as the first name.
41) I didn't mind that. It was established that it would happen and it was funny.
42) I know…it should have played a role if she brought it up.
43) I know. I agree. I figured it would be Tanya because she wanted Edward.
44) Yep, and the fact that they're all in love with mutant baby is too much.
45) She just says that because she can't say where she's going, but yeah it seemed lame.
46) Because Jacob magically said they didn't have to worry about it anymore. Right. Sam would totally be cool with that…
47) I know! What was the point? Even if she ended up not needing the documents she could have discovered something else important by accident while she was there that had some impact on the plot. But again…no.
48) Yep
49) Like I said, pick a power Bella. Any one of them is fine, all of them is irritating.
50) I know. It's hard to feel protective of a baby that acts like a 40 year old in a baby's body. I want to like the thing I really do, but it doesn't make me love it.
51) Didn't think of it like that. Yeah…
52) Cute, but thrown in out of nowhere and goes nowhere. Yep.
53) Yep
54)Yep, too bad they don't DO anything.
55) I think they hear it, but they came to kill so they don't care. Except they don't kill any great number of people either….sigh.
56) Yeah, it was thrown in late. I wouldn't care except for Edward's "It never came up". Right, like all the hundreds of werewolves conversations from Eclipse!?
57) I know, I know. Why would Aro listen to reason in the end? He could have had most of the vampires killed, kept the useful ones, and just made more followers for himself to replace the ones he los

Yeah i totally for the most part agree with you. The part that most disappointed/disgusted me was the fact that jacob imprinted on Bella’s kid???!!! Hello??! Where’s the sanity, that’s just plain disgusting. Jacob was like infatuated with Bella and then all of a sudden that completely goes away after seeing her baby. That’s just pedophile creepy, sorry! And i really felt the characters didn’t seem the same. Like Bella as a vampire was great and all cause she was strong and powerful, which i always wanted….BUT it just didn’t seem like her. The whole book was way too fan fictiony for me. The whole story seemed chopppy and didn’t flow together. It seemed like stephenie meyer just wanted to fit everything she possibly could into the book as fast as possible…I was extremely dissapointed. I’m glad it had a happy ending and all, but BD was just different from her previous 3 books. It was less realistic and too crazy fantasy for me. I mean COME ON Bella is 18/19 and she gets married + has a baby right after! The book wasn’t too bad until after we found out Jake imprinted on Bella’s kid. That was the biggest upset for me. Everything went downhill from there. Overall the book really just didn’t meet my expectations at all. I was dissapointed;(

Still in love with the first three books, but I probably won’t be rereading this one.

i don’t HATE the book…it’s a fun read (in some areas..endearing even…) I guess i just didn’t go into it with great expectations because i sort of figured that SM’s Twilight series was for “light reading” –you know, just to fill a silly-helpless-romantic-teen’s-head with pink and blue fluffy clouds. it is a fanfic. was it that terrible? no. i. don’t. think. so. But i figured, SM should’ve been more thorough in her character developments –instead of the vague “this-can’t-happen-so-i’m-just-going-to-put-this-in..” I expected a happy ending –a sappy one at that because if you read through all the books..it ALWAYS ends with a happy ending for B and E –no matter how complicated the future seemed..and how there’s always a cliff-hanger ending. Here are my other thoughts:
1.) the before the wedding parties — i don’t think that SM was given time for this or perhaps the editors didn’t find it necessary.. and we had to make do with Jasper’s very brief description. I mean, What would’ve bachelor/bachelorette parties add to the story? if it were an Adult novel and these Vamp guys were made/described as normal guys (like the vamps in J.R. Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood) then partying would be necessary. I’m sure Bella put her foot down when it comes to a bachelorette party and Alice saw that coming so she didn’t bother askin! hahaha let’s think of it as one of the things she used “veto” power on…and imagine a bachelorette party with Angela, Jessica, Lauren, Alice, Rose, Esmee and Bella…wow..bring on the party people…
2.) The Denalis –*sigh* an example of what i mentioned above –the lack of thorough-ness in SM’s part or her Editor’s or whatevs. I guess she thought that bringing on more about the Denalis rather than sprinkling explanations (in Bella’s flashbacks) would be enough. But this could be easily rectified –she could incorporate developing or exposing them further in a new series or a next book …
3.) Immortal Children — yes, again, the “vague” SM way of introducing a scene… she should’ve sprinkled a few paragraphs or thoughts about them in the past 3 books if she was planning on putting it on the 4th book. PLUS — i think SM only had one Denali she could elaborate on –and that is their MOTHER since she is the one CONNECTED with the “topic” at hand… tanya, irina, kate and carmen never had immortal children…did they deal with one? i don’t know..but MOM had…so she is the better Denali to talk about in such a limited space/time…
4 & 5) Yes..i love ALICE..and the wedding
Human visitors? BELLA isn’t exactly a PEOPLE person if you read twilight..it was mentioned she didn’t fit in with anyone…therefore only FEW friends (human) are expected to her wedding..she’s not exactly ELLE WOODS ^_^ as for Edward Barfing the cake –it’s unnecessary to include that in an already cramped book–^_^
6.) With the way the Cullen lives — nothing to do –a lot of cash to burn…i wasn’t surprised they owned an island. they have cash to burn and if i had that vast of wealth..HELL YEAH! I’ll buy mesself an island and call it whatever name i want!
7.) Bella didn’t really receive that much from edward –except his body. and the “compromise” gifts. bella will always think and worry bout jacob –as for the honeymoon –she was more worried about other “stuff” and shoved jacob away for a minute…
8.) She’s craving for eggs because she’s pregnant..(tho, she didn’t know it yet..) Pregnant women or expecting women have this urge of eating something particular when they are pregnant..perhaps EGGS was that for bella…until it turned out that what she needed was BLOOD and she liked it…it’s not really shocking.. I know she doesn’t like blood..but when you are pregnant (normal or weird way) your whole system changes and you suddenly want to eat something that you didn’t even like to smell…her baby was half vampire..it needed blood…how bella was able to like the taste and could down a million cups was because it was what her baby craved –what her body needed..she thus developed an acquired taste for it which isn’t unnatural for pregnant women…
====i don’t have time to go through every single detail so i’ll skip parts====================
“not time to write” –alice could be referring to the fact that the other vampires would know what she was up to…she could write fast but then with the sudden vision and concentrating on seeing what would be happening –looking for things etc…it’s not surprising that she could not find enough time to write…give alice a break..hahaha anyhoo –bella freaking out on Jacob’s imprinting is understandable– no matter how knowledgeable you are on something if it concerns somebody you love and someone very close to your heart…YOU WILL GO BERSERK! blind unreasonable anger does occur –then of course, followed by over the top remorse..haha RENESMEE is not a NAME –i agree about that..it’s PATHETIC and UNBELIEVABLE CORNY!!! But she’s an endearing little character..she’s also one of those that ties loose ends. Bella’s SEX drive –well the whole 3 books was FOREPLAY if you asked me…then this feelings heightened when she became a vampire..it wasn’t like SM just went and turned her into some nymphomaniac…it was EXPLAINED (though vaguely) –she even used EMMET and ROSE as examples– throwing in their own “love-rage” and how after a decade it receeded…if you think about it..read any vampire book –VAMPIRES= sensual+hot desire!!! it’s part of the whole vampiric mystique. At least when she turned into a “sex machine” –she was married! and we all know that Carlisle’s family –his coven– is built on a foundation of LOVE and FAMILY –so it’s only natural that people get some “could-be-the-last-time” smoochies with their hunnies…it’s corny and sappy but not that shocking!
Volturi —was disappointing since SM could have done so much better in putting in ACTION scenes…this part was one of those that I didn’t like in the book..because I found it TOO LACKING…i mean..come on..building us up to FEAR what the VOLTURI could do…showing us different abilities of vampires (almost too X-MEN-ish..) and then not even giving us a bit of bloodshed?????? that sucked. Irina’s death isn’t considered blood-shed! ahahha
But then it could be that Breaking Dawn is made to be a diving board for SM to write more books about the characters in BD. A whole new series. I wish she would. Kate/Garette is indeed a new adventure and Benjamin and Tia..all those freaks…to have their story incorporated in another book (thankfully, not in Bella’s POV this time) would be so interesting!
BD –is a mixture that could be deadly or beneficial to SM’s career…if she decides to write on about these vampires..i would definitely read and not expect too much. I’m sure she has her reasons.

I do have some MAJOR dislikes to this book:
First of all, Renesmee? I went along with it. but Carlie? Taking it a little far? Yes. Jesus, I wanted a nice little name. Not some gayass mix of her mothers names?
Second, this book was something I read out of fanfiction. I’m not even lying, all I could think throughout the book was: This is something out of a fanfiction web page!
Third, I was really upset on the direction she took in the book. The whole Bella getting pregnant thing was a huge shock, but honestly, this book could have gone elsewhere easily.
Fourth, Charlie finding out about Bella & Jacob’s “Conditions” was completely ridiculous. That was DEFINITELY something I could have read out of fanfiction. I was really upset about that.
And last, the fact that they didn’t even fight the Volturi was ridiculous, as well. Everyone came together, having kickass people, kickass powers, the awesome Romanians ready to gouge the evil little twins eyes out, they’re calling on the people they’re taking down, Jacob and Renesmee are ready to dip, and then the Volturi run off! It was totally anti-clamatic!
Oh, AND Alice and Jasper were absent the whole book. That absolutely Sucked. And then at the end they show up miraculously and save the day. No, I wanted a nice big showdown. That is the point to a CLIMAX.
Now, the good parts to this book was that it was fairly shocking the whole way through. I liked that there was a lot of surprise.
I also liked the ending. It was really cute how they had their own cottage and everything.
The fact that Jacob imprinted on demon child was so friggen stupid. Seriously, building that bond with Leah made EVERYONE think they’d hook up, since they had no one to imprint on, and now Leah’s friggen left out of the picture cuz of DEMON CHILD.
AND DID ANYONE ELSE SEE while Edwards trying to f*cking save bella’s LIFE, for christ sakes, ROSALIE IS COONING HER FREAKING BABY! Bellas all we’re good friends now when she really used her for the purpose of the damn baby. None of this would have happened if Rosalie was smart enough to say get rid of it. Really, once you break a freakin rib, EDWARD, thats screaming, destroy it. destroy. it.
The whole martyr bella bit was so freaking stupid. I love my child, yes, you don’t know the damn demon living in your stomach. YOU THOUGHT IT WAS A BOY.
Overall, I was just disappointed. The writing was terrible, no good quotes that i would have loved to remembered, the storyline was a-ss and a half, and it makes me really frustrated.
I say rewrite to breaking dawn. Fanfiction people did better than she did.
RE WRITE. REWRITE.

well i just wanted to let “wildgumdrop” know that they are hilarious. you definitely brought up a lot of good points and made me realize things i forgot about and realize they bugged me as well. if you havent already you should check out The Host by SM. its fantastic in my opinion especially the relationship connections. its obvious to me that SM put all her creativity into the host and was left with poorly detailed/organized ideas for breaking dawn. disappointing is the perfect word to describe breaking dawn.

t feels like there are so many relationships that just disappeared and so many times that Stephenie just got lazy and didn’t feel like explaining.
1. It would have been so much better if Carlisle pulled his usual move and came up with a scientific possibility for Renesmee. Like “it seems that we have been adjusting to a more human-like form and we are no longer the typical vampire yada yada.” Except more developed of course.
2. Why was there the need for so much built up suspense for J. Jenks? Lame! She could’ve just said get some papers so your child can flee. Or something. I felt like Jenks was going to be some super vampire or someone who kills Volturi members or something a little more spectacular.
3. What happened to all the relationships.
a) Bella and Edward…. I mean yeah they like having SEX a lot or something but they don’t really seem to have their connection anymore.
b) Despite Jacob’s awkward reassurances, after Renesmee is born they aren’t really best friends any more. In fact they seem as far from possible. Sometimes Bella accepts Jake as a possible protector for Renesmee but other than that she doesn’t give 2 craps about him.
c) Except for the wedding it’s like Alice and Bella aren’t even friends anymore.
4. The whole series I was expecting the whole turning of Bella to be a more sensual experience. Like Edward gets one last taste of the most delicious blood, etc.
5. I hate Renesmee.
6. There wasn’t really a climax. Someone should have died.
7. Yeah what was the random diamond about. And why did she Have to put it on. And why did she HAVE to just toss it to Renesmee. The whole scenario is just useless and wasteful.
