Basically, you missed the movie.

It ramps up in intensity with each scene.

Rent the DVD and see it all. There is an edge to it that spoilers written on Yahoo!Answers can't offer.

OK they finally stopped fighting. they floated more out into the water. a shark got the guy ….the sharks were all under the woman and she gave up and dove under the water. they weren't rescued and it was a true story.

was based ona true story.. well LOOSELY based on a true story.
The man dies first, and she takes off his gear so the sharks will eat him rather than attack her.. but then she realizes that she wont be saved so she takes her gear off so the sharks can get her too… they do not get rescued.
Ironically while she was doing this, the man in charge of the tourist boat remembered who they were and a search party went out looking for them.. but it was too late.

It was based on a true story. They both died.
